Boston Rugby Club have appointed former Leicester Tigers winger Steve Booth as their new player-coach.

Booth, 31, began his career in rugby league with Huddersfield Giants before switching codes in 2000.

In five seasons with the Tigers he won the Premiership and the Heineken Cup, as well as playing for England A and the England sevens.

Chairman Geoff O'Neill said: "Bringing Steve in is a demonstration of where we want Boston to go."

Booth, who scored 26 tries in 71 games for Leicester, said he was impressed by the set-up at the Princess Royal Sports Arena.

He said: "I haven't seen facilities like this outside the Premiership, I'm really looking forward to coaching and playing here."
