Yorkshire demolish North Midlands

Rugby Union

Defending champions Yorkshire are into the final of the National Under-20 Championship after a 57-10 win over North Midlands.

The White Rose raced into a 45-5 half-time lead, scoring seven tries.

"I'm pleased not only with the fact that we've won our games, but also with the way in which we achieved that," said coach Anthony Posa.

Yorkshire will now face Gloucestershire, who beat Hampshire, in the Twickenham final on 10 May.

Posa added: "When we played it tight we were all on the same page and when we moved it wide, we were just as organised and effective.

"As coaches, myself and Craig West have a proud tradition to live up to. Every time we come together we improve and that's our target. If we can continue to do that I'll be happy."

Yorkshire's tries came from centre Luke Gray (Wharfedale), wing Sam Bottomley (Leeds Carnegie), number eight Ryan Burrows (Rotherham), prop Andrew Goodwin (Selby), hooker Tom Young (Harrogate), full-back Harry Duthie (Harrogate) and flanker Gavin Jones (Team Northumbria).
