Six Portugal players spent the night in jail in Uruguay after celebrating their qualification for the Rugby World Cup finals for the first time.
Portugal lost 18-12 to Uruguay on Saturday but progressed to the finals in France 24-23 on aggregate.
Police said a group of players had gone to a downtown area in Montevideo's "Old City" and that a police officer was struck in a clash with the players.
But the un-named six were freed on Sunday and subsequently flew home.
The players' lawyer, Jorge Barerra, said a judge had "archived" the incident without filing charges after hearing the players' version of events.
Portugal will be in the same World Cup group as Scotland, Italy, Romania and New Zealand.
The World Cup kicks off on 7 September, with the final taking place on 20 October in Paris.
