Venter quits international rugby
AJ Venter
Venter will continue to play for Super 14 side the Sharks
South Africa back-rower AJ Venter has retired from international rugby.

He had been out of favour with coach Jake White until being selected in the second-string squad for the Tri-Nations games in Australia and New Zealand.

The 33-year-old, who won 25 caps, will continue playing for Super 14 side the Sharks until the end of the 2008 Super 14 competition.

"I did not want to retire outright without giving something back to the Sharks," said Venter.
