Laurie Fisher has been appointed the new head coach of Super 12 champions ACT Brumbies.
Fisher has been promoted having been assistant to previous coach David Nucifora, who was told in April that he was not required next season.
He will begin his two-year contract on July 19 after coaching Australia in the under-21 World Cup in Scotland.
"I've realised one ambition which is to be the first home-grown coach of the Brumbies," Fisher said.
"Now the second ambition is to make sure I head up a
successful organisation, so it's a fantastic challenge."
"I don't think there's a need for radical change. We just
want to make sure that we continue to be a leader in Australian and world rugby."
The Brumbies include several top Wallaby players including George Gregan, Stephen Larkham and Stirling Mortlock.
And Brumbies chief executive Rob Clarke said: "The players are very supportive of this decision. Many of
them, the senior ones, have worked with Laurie for the last couple of years."
