Davies takes swipe at Henry
Davies believes Henry's authoritarian style is a problem
Wales legend Jonathan Davies says under-fire coach Graham Henry must start listening to his players if he is to improve the fortunes of the national side.
"He (Henry) is a very good coach," Davies told BBC Radio 4. "However, even the best coaches in the world have to listen to people." Saturday's 30-16 defeat by Argentina at Cardiff signalled a new low for Welsh rugby.
"People are scared to stand-up to him (Henry) and say 'this isn't working, let's talk it through'," said Davies. "That isn't happening and I think a lot of people are unhappy. "They have to put someone in there to stand-up to whoever is dictating in the Welsh squad." When Henry was first appointed, Wales enjoyed victories over South Africa, France and England.
"They were good times, he brought discipline and patterns that suited their style of play," said Davies. "But now I think he's gone too rigid and its actually cutting the natural ability of certain individuals. "I don't think Rob Howley and Gareth Thomas and certain other individuals are playing their best for Wales because the style of rugby that they are playing doesn't suit them."
