Rotherham were confined to their 16th defeat of the season as Harlequins eased to victory at Clifton Lane.

Quins registered four tries, helping them to their third consecutive Premiership victory, picking up a bonus point along the way.

The home side were at one stage trailing by six points at 18-12.

But mistakes from Mike Umaga and winger Michael Wood allowed Quins to secure the victory when Rod Jewell touched down.

And five minutes later, Quins captain David Wilson scored his side's fourth try, converted by replacement fly-half Craig Chalmers, to seal the victory.

The Premiership's bottom side managed to produce some useful moves, but their inability to finish cost them dearly.

The visitors began brightly when Paul Burke scored an early drop goal in the third minute - followed a minute later by a try from winger Daren O'Leary from 40 metres out.

Rotherham had the better of their London opponents, could only score three first-half penalties by Umaga, who at one point put his side 9-8 ahead after 23 minutes.

Quins took a 15-9 lead into the interval when Keith Wood bundled over for the second try - successfully converted by Burke.

Rotherham displayed a spirited battling performance, but were ultimately undone by poor defensive errors late in the second half.
