John Winder has returned to Wigan as the club's head of youth performance.

Winder has spent the last three years in Australia with Melbourne Storm, where he worked with Michael Maguire, now the Warriors coach.

Prior to that, he led Wigan's community team at the DW Stadium, but his new role will now oversee all aspects of youth performance and recruitment.

"I'm delighted to work with John having been together at Melbourne where he was in a development role," said Maguire.

Winder said: "I am pleased be back at Wigan and to be working again with Madge.

"The youth department is an essential part of the club, recruiting and developing the players of the future.

"Wigan traditionally has a wonderful history of bringing quality young players through the system from scholarship to academy, reserve grade to first team and I am looking forward to playing my part in this important process."
