Vikings hatch bizarre escape plot
Widnes pair Sala Fa'alogo and Gary Hulse have joined Doncaster to the end of the season in a bizarre bid to help the Vikings stay in Super League.

If the Dragons win the National League One Grand Final on 8 October they are unlikely to be promoted because their ground will not be up to standard.

That would mean Widnes, who look like being relegated, earning a reprieve.

"We want to help Doncaster win the Grand Final and keep Widnes in Super League," said Hulse. "That's our aim."

Doncaster, who are currently fifth in the League One table, swooped for the players just before the deadline for National League transfers.

Widnes, who host Warrington on Sunday, are currently five points adrift of Salford with five matches left of the regular season.

Leigh are already relegated but two clubs are due to go down this year to make way for the arrival of French club Les Catalans.
