Warrington have released long-serving full-back Lee Penny and former Wigan and London Broncos winger Rob Smyth.
The 29-year-old Penny has just completed his 11th season with the Wolves but lost his place to new signing Daryl Cardiss.
Both players, who have been badly hit by injuries this year, are being linked with a move to neighbours Widnes while Penny is also thought to be on the shopping list of Super League hopefuls Salford.
Warrington have also released centre Kevin Crouthers and confirmed the departure of forwards Nick Fozzard and Sid Domic, who have signed for St Helens and Wakefield respectively.
But the Wolves have handed new two-year deals to seven players who were out of contract.
Scrum-half Nathan Wood, utility back Graham Appo, Australian centre Brent Grose, winger Dean Gaskell, back rower Paul Noone, hooker Mark Gleeson and prop Warren Stevens have all re-signed for the club.
Australian forward Darren Burns and scrum-half Gary Hulse have both been handed new 12-month deals.
Warrington have also signed St George Illawarra prop Chris Leikvoll for next season and coach Paul Cullen hopes to make two more high-profile captures in a bid to build on this season's transformation in fortunes.
The Wolves, who will move to a new 14,000-capacity stadium next year, reached the Super League play-offs for the first time just 12 months after narrowly avoiding relegation.
