The St Helens win ended a run of three successive defeats

Salford Reds coach Shaun McRae wants his squad to show more self-belief after their impressive 20-10 victory against St Helens. The win keeps Salford within two points of the three clubs directly above them in the Super League table. McRae told BBC Radio Manchester: "Some of our guys had their best games for a long time and it shows what you can achieve if you've got some belief. "It shows what you can achieve if you can starve a team of possession." He added: "I mean we completed at 91% in the first half and we did a lot of damage in that first half and created a bit of fatigue and took advantage of some situations. "What we've got to do quickly now is get over that fabulous win against St Helens and get on with our next performance and make sure we build on the win." Half-back Robbie Paul said Reds just "wanted it more" in their surprise win. "At the end of the day it came down to who wanted it more and that was us," Paul told the BBC's Super League Show. "We had as few things we wanted prove to ourselves, to the coaches and to the fans, and we wanted to give those fans a good showing." The Super League Show can be watched again via with the red button or on BBC iPlayer.
