Salford wing White out for season

Salford

Salford winger Paul White has been ruled out for the rest of the season after a recurrence of a knee injury.

The 26-year-old former Huddersfield and Wakefield player was forced off in the Reds' 48-12 defeat at Hull KR.

White was making his Super League debut for the club after initially damaging his knee during pre-season training.

Coach Shaun McRae said: "It looks like he will need a full knee reconstruction, so we've seen the last of Paul for 2009."

White joins Willie Talau on the long-term injury list, who is recovering from a triceps tear and cheekbone operation.

The loss of White could mean youngster Eddie Vaughn will get a chance to stake his claim in the side as Salford seek to halt a six-match losing run.
