Harlequins captain Rob Purdham has been awarded a testimonial in 2011 by the Rugby Football League.

The 30-year-old is the first player to be given a testimonial for playing rugby league for 10 years in London.

"It is a real honour to have a chance to enjoy my testimonial with Harlequins after enjoying 10 years of playing rugby league in London," said Purdham.

During his career, Purdham has won nine England caps and has scored 498 points for club and country.

In October, he captained Cumbria in an 18-18 draw against an England side, in a game arranged to pay tribute to his brother Garry, the ex-Workington and Whitehaven player who was one of the victims of the Cumbria shooting on 2 June.
