Leeds' Senior proud to reach 500

Senior won the title with Leeds in 2004, 2007 and 2008

Leeds Rhinos Keith Senior says it will be "one of the proudest moments of his life" when he plays his 500th game at Hull FC on Saturday.

The centre has made 304 appearances for Leeds, 140 Sheffield Eagles and 55 for representative teams, including 33 Test matches for Great Britain.

"It's a great feeling and I'm very proud to reach the milestone," Senior told BBC Radio Leeds.

"I thought about it for a while, so it's great to finally get there."

The all-time record number of appearances is 928 by Wigan's legendary full-back Jim Sullivan between 1921 and 1946.

Senior made his debut for Sheffield in 1994 and his 499 appearances include a record 341 rounds of Super League.

A former Huddersfield YMCA rugby union player explained: "I've not looked too far ahead for reaching other milestones.

"Reaching 250 tries could be something, but I'm just enjoying putting young Ryan Hall [Leeds winger] in for tries at the moment.

"He is getting a great buzz from topping the try-scoring chats and that's something I take great pride in.

"I'm very stubborn and just what to keeping going for as long as I can.

"You are a long time retired, so when the body tells me it's time to hang up the boots then I'll know it's right to quit.
