Poaching played for Leeds before moving into coaching

Leeds Rhinos assistant coach Willie Poching says a video referee should be at every Super League game. At present the technology for deciding if a try was scored legitimately is only used at televised matches. "Not having a video ref is the biggest inconsistency in our game. Too many games are won and lost by bad calls, Poching told BBC Radio Leeds. "Two games a weekend have video refs and it's not fair that five other are not judge with the same rules." Poching's Leeds benefited from the absence of the video referee in Friday night's derby win over Bradford Bulls at Headingley.

I agree with Steve McNamara on this issue. I couldn't make a call if Sheriffe scored or not
Willie Poching on Bradford's disallowed try

The game's turning point came when official Phil Bentham and linesman adjudged Bulls winger Rikki Sheriffe had a foot in touch when he looked to have scored a perfectly good try near the end of the game. This came just a day after Bulls head coach Steve McNamara had called for the technology to be introduced at all games. Poching, speaking on BBC Radio Leeds' West Yorkshire Sport show, explained: "I agree with Steve McNamara on this issue. "I understand that the refs are only human and we need a human element in the game and that they to be able to make judgement calls. "I couldn't make a call if Sheriffe scored or not. "Obviously I'm delighted Rob Burrow got over there and was adjudged to have push him into touch. "But overall the game needs to bring it in."
