Hull FC half-back Sean Long hit with two-game ban

Hull FC half-back Sean Long has been banned for two games and fined £300 after being found guilty of striking with his elbow against Castleford.

Long, 34, was sent off for the challenge on Tigers' Jacob Emmitt.

But he successfully argued at a Rugby Football League disciplinary committee that the offence should be downgraded from Grade D to Grade C.

Long's dismissal was the first of his career and he will now miss the games against Bradford and Catalan Dragons.

If Long, whose disciplinary hearing had been adjourned until Thursday because of illness, had been found guilty of a Grade D offence he could have been given a five-match ban.

At a hearing earlier in the week, Tigers' Willie Isa was banned for one game for making dangerous contact with Hull's Epalahame Lauaki.

Wigan's Jeff Lima received the same punishment for making dangerous contact with Leeds Rhino's Chris Clarkson.
