Ewan Dowes made 25 Super League appearances for Hull FC last season
Ewan Dowes has signed a new one-year deal with Hull FC after it initially looked as though his eight-year stay with the club might come to an end.
The 29-year-old Cumbrian prop, who joined Hull from Leeds in 2003, had been offered a reduced-terms contract to remain at the KC Stadium.
But, having looked set to move on, he has now accepted the club's offer.
"When you've been at a club for eight years it's very hard to turn your back on them," said Dowes.
"During that time I have some really good memories of two cup finals and a Grand Final and I think, as a lot of the lads do, that we have a real chance of doing that again.
"My target now is to get back to my best form and play my part for the team. And I have the perfect incentive in looking to extend my stay again after the new season is out."
Dowes played in all but two of Hull's 27 Super League matches last season as they missed out on a top-four spot to Leeds on the final day of the season, before losing to local rivals Hull KR in the play-offs.
