Horne thankful for early chance

Hull FC half-back Richard Horne has thanked his parents for their support as he prepares for his testimonial game with Hull KR.

At 26, Horne is one of the youngest rugby league players to earn the honour after 10 years with his club.

Horne told BBC Look North: "They played a massive part in where I am now.

"They're the biggest support you can have and they would ferry you about to training and to Yorkshire camps. I'm really thankful for that."

Horne recalled being a 16-year-old and first getting the call to play in the first team.

"We were struggling a bit with injuries so they had to use the youth - and that meant Paul Cook, Paul King, Richard Fletcher, Craig Poucher and I all got our opportunity."

Horne will start the game against Rovers alongside his new half-back partner Sean Long who has just been named club skipper.

Former playing colleague Steve Prescott, who is battling cancer, will be Horne's guest of honour at the game.
