Sharp loses Hull operations role

Sharp wants to become a head coach again after a frustrating year

Hull FC have released football operations manager Jon Sharp after scrapping the role altogether.

The former Huddersfield Giants head coach had only served one year of his two-year contract and is now hoping to get back into coaching.

He said: "It appears that I don't figure in [head coach] Richard Agar's plans for next year.

"I came to the club as an experienced head coach and I found the role of operations manager really frustrating."

Sharp, who played for Hull for 10 years, guided Huddersfield to a first Challenge Cup final in 44 years in 2006 and their first ever Super League play-off campaign in 2007 but was sacked in June 2008.

His season at the KC Stadium saw the club finish third from bottom in the league.

The former St Helens assistant added: "I wasn't able to influence the team as much as I would have liked due to my role. I really missed the responsibility and the challenge.

"It confirmed to me that I am a head coach and that's what I would like to do."
