Huddersfield-born McGillvary can also play at full-back.
Huddersfield Giants winger Jermaine McGillvary has signed a new contract keeping him at the club until the end of the 2013 season.
The 22-year-old scored five tries in seven appearances after breaking into the first team this season.
McGillvary, who went on loan to Batley Bulldogs in 2009, told the Giants' website he had not hesitated when offered the new contract.
He said: "[Coach] Nathan Brown has been giving me loads of encouragement.
"Hopefully I'm giving him a headache for the new season because I'm pushing myself to the limit so there's no reason in my mind why I can't start this season."
