Huddersfield Giants sign Bradford Bulls' Wardle

Huddersfield Giants have signed Bradford Bulls utility man Joe Wardle for an undisclosed fee.

Wardle, 19, who can play as a centre or back-row forward, turned down the offer of a new contract at Bradford to sign a three-year deal with the Giants.

Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown said: "Joe has good potential and I am looking forward to working with him in the pre-season.

"He will be an enthusiastic, fresh face for us to work with and develop."

Wardle added: "I had a great start to my career at the Bulls and thank them for bringing me to this point.

"I felt though when I weighed all my options up that the opportunity to work under Nathan Brown and his staff can further advance my career to the next level."

Bradford's new coach Mick Potter will not take up office at Odsal until he has seen out the remainder of his contract with St Helens, who he has guided to a second successive Grand Final. But the club have already signed eight new players.

Former Leeds, Hull and Crusaders winger Gareth Raynor will sign once he has finished serving his current sentence for offences relating to counterfeiting and common assault.

And the Bulls have also signed Chev Walker (Hull KR), Shaun Ainscough (Wigan), Olivier Elima (Catalans), Bryn Hargreaves (St Helens), Ian Sibbit (Salford), Shad Royston (Halifax) and New Zealander Patrick Ah Van.
