Gilmour is Huddersfield's second major signing for 2010

Huddersfield have signed second rower Lee Gilmour on a two-year deal from Super League rivals St Helens from the start of next season. The 31-year-old was only offered a 12-month extension to his current deal at Knowsley Road. Gilmour told the club website: "Although I had a number of offers, Huddersfield were my first choice and it's fantastic to sort a deal out." Gilmour has scored 51 tries in 167 appearances for St Helens since 2004. The former Great Britain international will line up against his future team-mates in next month's Challenge Cup semi-final. Giants head coach Nathan Brown said: "Lee Gilmour is a winning player and he has won at every club he's been at in Wigan, Bradford and St Helens.

"He is versatile and can play in the back row and in the centres. Lee has got good leg speed and can beat people; he is a good trainer and is very professional. "We believe he is a player that can help improve our squad." Gilmour said: "There is no doubt this is a club on the up and the Giants can now boast a squad genuinely capable of challenging for silverware.
