Huddersfield captain Chris Thorman has been found not guilty of biting Bradford Bulls full-back Michael Platt's finger.

Platt made the allegation during Sunday's ill-tempered Super League match, which the Giants won 25-24.

But the Rugby Football League threw the charge out at a hearing on Tuesday.

Bulls centre Paul Sykes was found guilty of using foul and abusive language to a match official and was banned for one match and fined £300.

Sykes, who was dismissed after the match as he protested about referee Steve Ganson's decision to blow for full time, will miss Friday's game at Warrington.

Sunday's match also saw four players sent for spells in the sin bin.

Earlier, Bulls hooker Terry Newton, who was twice placed on report, was cleared of any wrong-doing.

He was alleged to have hit Huddersfield loose-forward Stephen Wild with a late challenge and performing a 'spear' tackle on Andy Raleigh.

But the RFL match review panel decided Newton had no case to answer leaving him free to play at Warrington.
