Crusaders confident on visa trio

Crusaders chief executive Rod Findlay is confident the club are a step closer to getting visa clearance for their three Australian players.

The trio - Rhys Hanbury, Frank Winterstein and Hep Cahill - are stranded at home because of red tape.

But after a meeting with representatives of the UK Borders Agency, Findlay is more hopeful.

"We seem to have the green light. Hopefully we are in a position to progress," said Findlay.

"The significance of the meeting was to move us from a B status to an A status which means that the players can apply for their visas immediately.

"So hopefully they should be with us in the next couple of weeks, but obviously we are taking it step by step

"We are beginning to think that the end might be in sight.

"We addressed all the points we were concerned about. They [UK Borders Agency] know it's urgent."

"There is nothing more we can do to speed it up so we'll see what comes of it.

"They were case-workers rather than decision-makers but hopefully we're a step closer."

The Crusaders will be eager to resolve the visa issue especially after six of their players were deported in 2009 because they had the wrong immigration paper work.
