Trent Robinson to become Catalans Dragons head coach

Catalans Dragons

Catalans Dragons have appointed Australian Trent Robinson as their new head coach on a three-year contract.

The 33-year-old will join the Dragons from Sydney Roosters, where he was working as assistant coach to former Hull and Bradford boss Brian Smith.

Robinson will replace current coach Kevin Walters, who is leaving at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, French international back Vincent Duport has signed a new three-year deal with the Dragons.

Duport, who made his Catalans debut in 2007, has spent this season playing in the championship for neighbours Toulouse.

He follows in the footsteps of next season's new coach Robinson, who played for Toulouse before succeeding Justin Morgan as coach in 2005.

Wakefield coach John Kear was Catalans' first choice as coach but they were unable to agree compensation with the Wildcats.
