Castleford Tigers have re-signed prop forward Paul Jackson following his release from Huddersfield Giants.

The 30-year-old returns to the Jungle for a second spell on a two-year-deal.

Coach Terry Matterson said: "Having played against Huddersfield a number of times this season, I've seen first hand his high work rate and strong tackling.

"He is a real professional and brings us a wealth of experience. I believe that he will be a key asset next season," Matterson added.

Jackson, who played for the Giants in their Challenge Cup final defeat last month, began his professional career with Huddersfield before switching to Wakefield.

I know a lot of the guys at Cas and it's clear that they have stepped up this year

He first joined the Tigers in 2003 and had two seasons at the Jungle, making 31 appearances before returning to the Giants for the 2005 campaign.

Jackson said: "I am really looking forward to coming back to Cas. The last time I was there I didn't go as well as I had hoped I might with the shoulder reconstruction, and the following year I wasn't able to hit my best form.

"This time I want to put things right. I feel that I have improved a lot since that then. I was a little bit raw but I have worked under some good coaches and my knowledge of the game has come on and I've developed as a player.

"I know a lot of the guys at Cas and it's clear that they have stepped up this year.

"They have been playing some good rugby even though they have had spells without key players and I know that in the Giants camp that we always felt it was going to be a big test against them this season."
