Castleford three-quarter Kirk Dixon has signed a new two-year deal which is set to keep him at The Jungle until 2011.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Tigers from Hull FC in 2007, has scored 180 points in all competitions this season.

"Kirk has been with us three years and has improved in each one. We feel there is more to come from him," coach Terry Matterson told the Tigers' website.

"He covers two positions for us and as well as being a competent kicker, he is proving a good finisher."

Matterson added: "He is also a popular member of the squad and I'm pleased that he has agreed a new deal with us."

Dixon is both the leading points and goal scorer in the current Castleford squad and is just 10 away from a career points total of 500.

He had been an ever present in the Tigers side this season before missing Sunday's 40-38 victory over Bradford Bulls at Odsal with a sternum injury.

"I'm pretty happy with my own form, and was disappointed to lose my ever-present record last weekend," said Dixon.

"I'm very pleased to have agreed a new deal and I'm looking forward to another couple of years at the Jungle.

"We have built over the last two years and are moving forward. I'm confident that we are heading in the right direction and I'm looking forward to being part of a club who are competing for trophies in the next few years."
