Bradford have announced the signing of former Hull FC and Crusaders winger Gareth Raynor on a one-year deal.

Raynor, 32, is currently serving time in an open prison in South Yorkshire for offences relating to counterfeiting and common assault.

The ex-Great Britain international is scheduled for release on 31 December but could be out as early as 4 October.

"I'm very grateful to Bradford Bulls for the opportunity to get back playing Super League," Raynor said.

Raynor spent the first part of last season with Crusaders before being jailed for nine months in May for counterfeiting charges relating to imported proper cartridges plus a further six months for a suspended sentence for common assault.

Raynor, who has also played rugby union for Leeds and Leicester, enjoyed a prolific spell at Hull FC with 92 tries in 158 matches.

Bulls chairman Peter Hood said: "Gareth is an international wing who will add significant extra fire-power to the Bulls outside backs division next season.

"The regime that Gareth's been living during his sentence has enabled him to maintain his core strength and fitness and his appetite for the game remains undiminished."
