Rugby League Raw returns for the first of four programmes on BBC One on Saturday with a new face and another prestigious award to add to its collection.

The documentary-style no-nonsense approach has gained the programme a firm following, as well as three Royal Television Society (RTS) awards and five nominations over its three series.

The latest award for RTS Regional Sports Programme of the Year was a significant achievement for a regional broadcast and according to the jury: "The winning programme was illuminating, compelling and entertaining".

More than 400,000 viewers regularly watched the last series which this time sees the presenting debut of former editor-in chief of the Daily and Sunday Sport, Tony Livesey.

Tony's experience, humour and love of rugby league are guaranteed to bring a new edge to the programme.

Featured in the series are National League One teams Hull KR, Widnes Vikings, Leigh Centurions, Whitehaven, Rochdale Hornets and Batley Bulldogs.

League Two teams Sheffield Eagles, Celtic Crusaders, Featherstone Rovers, Swinton Lions, Barrow Raiders and Gateshead Thunder will be competing in their own play-off series for a place in League One.

The Dewsbury Rams are also featured as they achieved automatic promotion from League Two to League One.

Rugby League Raw goes out in the North West, Yorkshire & North Midlands, North East & Cumbria, and East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire regions.
