Challenge Cup winners Hull remain on course for a double after a hard fought victory over Warrington in the Super League elimination play-off.

John Kear's side will now meet Bradford at Odsal in next Saturday's semi-final.

Nathan Blacklock shone for Hull with a first-half hat-trick as his side claimed their first-ever win in the play-offs.

Although Andrew Johns sparked a Wolves revival, Chris Chester eased the pressure with a 67th minute effort.

While Blacklock's scoring made a difference to Hull, it was their defence which played a key role as they held off the Warrington attack, led by Johns, time and time again.

Although Warrington dominated possession and field position and created a series of half-chances, their handling also let them down at crucial times.

Blacklock's first try came against the run of play and although scrum-half Danny Brough missed the conversion, he made amends with a penalty after Warrington prop Mark Hilton was punished for obstructing full-back Tom Saxton.

Blacklock claimed his second when his opposite number Chris Bridge dropped Richard Horne's high kick and he completed his hat-trick thanks to an error by Johns.

Kirk Yeaman, back from a two-match suspension, could have heaped more misery on the Wolves but his try was disallowed for a forward pass.

But Warrington had their moments too, with Bridge and fellow winger Henry Fa'afili both having tries ruled out by the video referee for touching the whitewash.

It was a similar story in the second half, with Hull standing firm against the Warrington pressure.

It was only when Hull were down to 12 men, following the 55th-minute sin-binning of stand-off Horne for a professional foul, that the Wolves managed to get on the scoreboard.

Johns shook off four Hull tackles to force his way over and his conversion brought Warrington back to 18-6.

But Hull ran in four late tries through Chester, Yeaman, Richard Whiting and Gareth Raynor to seal the win while Brough took his goal tally to six from eight attempts.
