Peden signs for Broncos
Bill Peden
Peden has won the Grand Final with the Knights
London Broncos have signed Newcastle Knights forward Bill Peden for the 2003 Super League season.

The double Australian Grand Final winner has joined the Broncos at their pre-season training camp in New South Wales.

The 32-year-old utility forward has played 190 games for the Knights and scored two tries in their 2001 Grand Final win over Parramatta.

"What others had told me about the Broncos before I agreed to sign has already been confirmed from what I've seen here at the training camp," said Peden.

"You can tell a lot about the club from the people around it and the way the group gets on so well.

"We're looking forward to our time in London and I hope I can play an important role with the club."

Meanwhile, Wakefield utility player Tommy Haughey is also set to sign for the Broncos after the Wildcats agreed to his release.

The 20-year-old has struggled to win a regular place in the Trinity side, because of injury problems, but the Broncos have expressed an interest in signing him.

"We spoke with Tommy and he felt that his opportunity of playing first-team rugby was greater at the Broncos than here," said Wildcats chief executive Diane Rogerson.
