Wakefield 32-36 Leeds

Leeds came out on top after a fierce struggle with their Yorkshire rivals on Friday.

Karl Pratt was the hero for the Rhinos, running 80 yards to score the match-winning try to deny Wakefield, who had led at half-time.

The Wildcats opened the scoring after 12 minutes when Brad Davis split the defence and put centre Gareth Ellis in for a try converted by Ian Knott.

Three minutes later Ellis dashed over for his second try, but almost at once the Rhinos got on the scoreboard when winger Chev Walker grabbed a cross-field kick and went in for a try.

Wakefield increased their lead with a try by Knott, who also added the goal - but again the visitors hit back.

Pratt wriggled his way over for a try, and Kevin Sinfield's goal meant that Leeds trailed by just six points at half-time.

A minute into the second half, Rhinos levelled matters with a try by Ryan Sheridan, with Sinfield adding the goal.

But Wakefield regained the lead with a try by Kris Tassell and went further ahead when Neil Law crossed over.

Rhinos take lead

Brad Davis, who had taken over the goal-kicking after Knott went off injured, added the goal and the Wildcats had a 10-point cushion.

But the Rhinos came back again through former Wakefield favourite Willie Poching who went in for a try, with Sinfield adding the goal.

Leeds then took the lead for the first time when Walker got his second try and Sinfield again added the goal.

But the Wildcats stormed back when Martin Moana followed up a kick through to touch down for a try and Davis adding the goal to regain their four-point advantage.

But minutes later, it was all square again when substitute Rob Burrow went over for the Rhinos.

Then from a scrum in the Rhinos' half, the ball went out to Pratt on the wing and he raced down the touchline almost 80 metres for the try of the match.
