Woodsy on...
Halifax Blue Sox
BBC Sport's Dave Woods takes a look at the 12 sides battling for Super League honours in 2002.
Another season of financial struggle seems certain at the Shay, but Halifax have become very good at fighting the odds.
But they lack overall finesse and so a top six spot may be beyond them, though their character should also make sure that relegation is never really an issue. Predicted finish: 9th Big Season For: Andrew Dunemann, the class act for the Blue Sox, this Australian's ability is matched by attitude. He struggled with one or two injuries last year, but if he's fighting fit and running the midfield then the Blue Sox have the potential to beat anyone on their day. Previous Super League finishes: 6th, 7th, 3rd, 9th, 8th, 9th. Coach: Steve Linnane (since April 2001). New recruits: Robbie Beckett (Penrith), Colum Halpenny (Parramatta), Dave Woods (Penrith), Chris Birchall, Craig McDowell (both Bradford), Karle Hammond (Widnes), Jason Flowers (Castleford). Departures: Damian Gibson (Salford), Jason Lee, Martin Moana (both Doncaster), Paul Davidson (Rochdale), Phil Hassan (released), Matt Firth (Keighley), Adam Hughes (Widnes).
