Karl Kirkpatrick will referee the Powergen Challenge Cup final between St Helens and Wigan in Cardiff on 15 May.
It will be the Warrington official's first Cup final, although he was in charge of the Super League Grand Final and is the current Referee of the Year.
Stuart Cummings, the RFL's match officials director, said: "Karl has maintained the good form that saw him appointed to the Grand Final.
"He is now recognised as one of this country's top three referees."
The reserve referee is Barnsley's Ronnie Laughton, whose brother Dale was a member of the Sheffield Eagles team which beat Wigan in the 1998 final at
Wembley.
The video referee will be David Campbell, of Widnes, who was in charge of the 1994 final.
