Gilmour gets Scottish call
![]() Lee Gilmour was a late inclusion to the squad
Scotland have called Wigan and Great Britain utility player Lee Gilmour into their squad for the Lincoln World Cup.
The former Young Player of the Year was one of three players drafted into the squad following the withdrawal due to injury of a trio of southern hemisphere-born players. It was not known that Gilmour had a Scottish grandparent when the squad was originally selected by coach Shaun McRae. The 22-year-old is currently preparing with Wigan for Saturday's Super League Grand Final against St Helens. "He wasn't in the initial squad because we were unaware that he had a Scottish grandfather," explained Scotland manager Michael McDonald. Fine acquistion "He approached us once he failed to win selection in the England squad and he has proved his eligibility. He is a fine acquisition for us." Gilmour can play in both the centres or the second row. Scotland have also brought in Featherstone Rovers' Australian-born full-back Michael Rhodes, 25, and Swinton's former Halifax centre Andy Craig, 24, who played in last year's triangular tournament against Wales and Ireland. McRae has been forced to look for replacements following the loss of Tim Brasher, Paul McGregor and Logan Campbell. The Scots will go into camp in Leeds on 16 October and move up to Edinburgh a week later to prepare for their opening group three match against New Zealand Maoris in Glasgow on Sunday 29 October.
