Leeds overwhelmed Hull in their Super League play-off eliminator to set up a second semi-final against Huddersfield. Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Ben Jones-Bishop and Brent Webb went in for tries to add to a penalty and two conversions from Kevin Sinfield before half time. Hull hit back through Richard Whiting, before Weller Hauraki, Sinfield and Danny McGuire extended Rhinos' lead. Tom Briscoe got a late Hull consolation before Ryan Bailey slid over the line at the death to complete the rout. Rhinos' convincing victory meant a losing end to Richard Agar's time in charge of Hull as he now moves on to take over at Wakefield. It also means Leeds extend their winning run over the Black and Whites to 11 matches. Once Ryan Hall claimed a high ball to send Jones-Buchanan over from close range in the eighth minute the victory never looked in doubt. Sinfield landed a penalty before Leeds showed their class with fine scores by Jones-Bishop and Webb- following an outrageous pass from Bailey. After the break Whiting gave Hull the ideal restart, with Tickle adding the extras, although the winger was injured in the act of scoring and had to leave the field. Hauraki's try was all about power and the score reasserted the Rhinos superiority in the 46th minute. Sinfield again converted before just finding enough in his legs to score himself under the posts and add another goal. McGuire's try in the 72nd minute was the pick of the bunch as he raced past several Hull defenders for a fine to score before Bailey splashed down in a rain-soaked in goal for a try at the very end. Both scores were converted by Sinfield. Sandwiched between those scores Hull hit back in the closing stages when Tom Briscoe touched down in the left corner for a try which Tickle failed to convert.
POST-MATCH VIEWS
Leeds coach Brian McDermott: "I thought we came up with some sensational patches of play and were brilliant on occasions. "Hull were always going to come here and have a dig but we made mention of that and said that it was about what we did and about getting our attitude right. "Leeds as a team have been known for playing hot down the years but we scored some tries tonight through tough options. "People were willing to run hard and break tackles. And we did that." Hull coach Richard Agar: "There was certainly no fairytale finish. "That was as poorly as we've played for a long, long time - we were well beaten in every department. "We were disappointed at half-time because I don't think we competed well enough. "A lot of our big-game players just did not perform."
