Hull KR (42) 64

Hull KR hammered York City Knights to progress to the fifth round of the Challenge Cup.

Hometown boy Peter Fox ran in two tries from the right wing against the club where he started his career.

Young debutant Jordan Cox came off the bench to also score two of Rovers' 11 tries at the Huntington Stadium.

Blake Green, Ben Galea, Louis Sheriff, Michael Dobson, Matt Cook, Super League top scorer Kris Welham and Jake Webster crossed for the other Rovers tries.

Dobson landed 10 out of 11 conversion attempts to complete an individual haul of 24 points.

However York, who rested influential playmaker Chris Thorman, could have made life more uncomfortable for the Super League side had they converted a goalline drop-out soon after Mark Barlow had reduced Rovers' lead to 12-6.

The remainder of the first-half was a procession, the visitors opening up a 42-6 lead at the break - Cox marking his senior debut with the first of his two scores.

York mounted a mini-revival in the second period, as Jack Stearman crossed and Barlow got his second to cut the gap to 24 points, but that was as close as it got.

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan:

"We scored some nice tries and I thought we showed a genuine change in speed in our defensive line.

"We put York under some pressure and forced some drop-outs.

"I come away very pleased and have to give credit to York for playing the game in great spirit as they kept turning up, especially their forwards."

York coach Dave Woods:
"We did well but we just made it too tough for ourselves.

"We kicked out on the full in open play and from a kick-off and we came up with dropped balls in first, second and third tackles.

"That is uncharacteristic for us. You cannot afford to do that against Super League sides.
