Mackay in Dream Team

Wigan have an impressive six players selected in the Tetley's Bitter Super League Dream Team but former Australian Test threequarter Graham Mackay is also included after peforming marvels for Leeds.

The veteran Mackay, who had a spell with Bradford 10 years ago, played rugby union in France in the winter and got his opportunity with the Rhinos because of injuries.

He had originally rung Leeds at the start of the season asking for trials, and contributed greatly in their remarkable revival.

Mackay, who claimed a hat-trick of tries on his only appearance for the Kangaroos in 1992, scored nine tries in 18 matches for Leeds until suffering a fractured cheekbone against St Helens.

Crucial play-off

He is, however, expected to return, along with Iestyn Harris and Adrian Morley, for Leeds' crucial play-off tie against Castleford at Headingley on Saturday.

The re-emergence of Wigan as title favourites was reflected in the selection of the Dream Team, with six Warriors named as the form players in their positions.

Captain and loose forward Andy Farrell is joined by team-mates Kris Radlinski, Steve Renouf, Jason Robinson, Denis Betts and Terry O'Connor.

There is no place for either Harris or Henry Paul (Bradford) due to the superb form of St Helens stand-off Tommy Martyn, who is a front runner for the prestigious Man of Steel Award.

Dream Team:

Kris Radlinski (Wigan)
Jason Robinson (Wigan)
Steve Renouf (Wigan)
Michael Eagar (Castleford)
Graham Mackay (Leeds)
Tommy Martyn (St Helens)
Sean Long (St Helens)
Stuart Fielden (Bradford)
Keiron Cunningham (St Helens)
Terry O'Connor (Wigan)
Jamie Peacock (Wigan)
Denis Betts (Wigan)
Andy Farrell (Wigan)
