Title-chasing St Helens have boosted their pack for next season by signing Hull forward Wayne McDonald.

The 24-year-old is out of contract at the Boulevard after joining Hull from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at the start of the season.

The Scottish international forward has agreed a two-year deal with Saints and becomes their third capture for 2001 following the swoop for Australian forwards David Fairleigh and Peter Shiels.

Saints coach Ian Millward said: "Wayne has plenty of talent and will strengthen our squad.

"He has the ability to unload the ball and score tries."
