Peterlee back Watson set for England Lionhearts opener

Peterlee Pumas half-back Luke Watson has been named in the England amateur squad for Saturday's Four Nations opener against Scotland in Glasgow.

Watson was among six North East players to be called up, but is the only one to be named in the opening 13.

Northallerton centre Craig Sykes is named on the bench, although club team-mate Don Payne misses out.

Jarrow duo Andy Gray and Barry Walker and Wallsend hooker Jimmy Baldwin are the other absentees.
