Widdop is yet to make his first-grade debut for the Storm
English full-back Gareth Widdop has been included in Melbourne Storm's 23-strong squad for this month's World Club Challenge against Leeds.
The 20-year-old emigrated with his family from Halifax four years ago and came through the Storm junior ranks.
Widdop scored the match-winning try in the club's under-20 side's grand final victory last season.
The squad will arrive in London on Tuesday ahead of Sunday's warm-up match against Harlequins.
Widdop, one of six members of the under-20s side, is understudy to Australia full-back Billy Slater and could play in the game at the Twickenham Stoop as the Australians prepare to face Leeds at Elland Road on Sunday 28 February.
Slater will fly out on Thursday, along with captain Cameron Smith and Kiwi international Adam Blair, after being involved in the weekend's All Stars game in Queensland and all three will sit out the Harlequins game.
The squad includes prop Ryan Tandy, who played in Super League for Widnes and Hull KR and represented Ireland in the 2008 World Cup.
Kangaroo centre Greg Inglis and New Zealand prop Jeff Lima are travelling with the squad, even though both are injury doubts.
Inglis may face Harlequins to test a hip complaint ahead of the Leeds game while Lima is hoping to shake off a leg injury.
Melbourne are without forwards Brett White and Sika Manu, new signing Chase Stanley and scrum half Cooper Cronk through injury.
Squad: Adam Blair, Jesse Bromwich, Hep Cahill, Matt Duffie, Brett Finch, Ryan Hoffman, Ryan Hinchcliffe, Greg Inglis, Willie Isa, Sinbad Kali, Luke Kelly, Rory Kostjasyn, Jeff Lima, Todd Lowrie, Luke MacDougall, Dane Nielsen, Kevin Proctor, Anthony Quinn, Billy Slater, Cameron Smith, Ryan Tandy, Aiden Tolman, Gareth Widdop.
