Gene is in his second spell at Hull KR

Hull KR forward Stanley Gene has been cleared to make an emotional farewell appearance at Craven Park.

The 35-year-old, out of contract at the end of the season, was found guilty of foul play in the play-off defeat at Leeds but has avoided any suspension.

Gene, was fined £500, but is free to play in Hull KR's final home game of the season against Wigan on Saturday.

He was cited for making "unnecessary contact" with the face or eyes of Leeds Rhinos full-back Brent Webb.

Gene, a Papua New Guinea international, is in his second spell with Hull KR but has not been offered a playing contract for next season.

He could take up a coaching roll at the club, but has also been linked with a player-coach position at Featherstone.

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan said: "We would love for him to be involved in some regard but that will be his call."

Their season will come to an end if they lose to Wigan in the second preliminary semi-final.

Meanwhile, Castleford's Ryan McGoldrick has been banned for one match and fined £300 for a high tackle on Wigan's Cameron Phelps during his side's play-off defeat at the DW Stadium.

The Australian stand-off pleaded not guilty to making a high tackle but admitted placing his hand on Phelps' neck in an attempt to prevent the Wigan player from punching him.
