Ben Galea scored two tries and set up three more as Hull KR moved up to second in the Super League table.

Warrington took advantage of some weak Rovers defence to run in three first-half tries but Shaun Bricoe and Michael Dobson touched down to keep it close.

Mick Vella's try put the Robins ahead before Scott Murrell's 40-20 kick set up Clint Newton to extend their lead.

Hicks and Vinnie Anderson tries kept Warrington interested but Galea touched down twice to seal victory for Rovers.

It was fitting that the second-row forward should round off the victory for Hull KR after playing such a pivotal role in the game.

He put Briscoe through a gap to score the Robins' opening try after Hicks had gone over in the corner for Wolves.

But Simon Grix burst through Hull KR's defence to set up Michael Monaghan and Jon Clarke and Monaghan combined for Vinnie Anderson to extend Warrington's lead.

Michael Dobson powered over after taking a pass from Galea before adding the extras to reduce the deficit to 16-12 at the break.

Vella drew Rovers level after coming on to another try-making pass from Galea and touching down despite crashing into the posts. Dobson added the extras and Rovers never trailed again.

Newton looked to have put the game beyond Warrington after they conceded a needless penalty, but Hicks crossed and converted to keep them in it.

Galea weaved past three tackles to restore Rovers' eight-point lead but Warrington refused to lie down.

Monaghan charged at the defence and sent Anderson over to reduce the deficit to two points with five minutes remaining.

But any thoughts of a remarkable comeback were extinguished by Galea, who crossed for his second in the final seconds to bring down the curtain on a spectacular weekend's action at Murrayfield.

Warrington coach Tony Smith:
"We were down a few experienced players so we gave an opportunity to a few young guys and they did pretty well.

"There were a lot of encouraging signs and if my team keeps playing like that, we're going to win quite a few games between now and the end of the season.

"There was not much between the teams and it could have gone either way. Having said that, I thought Hull KR deserved it mainly due to their kicking game, which was better than ours in the second half.

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan:
"We're not getting carried away because there are a lot of games still to be played.

"We played a bit loose for my liking and we moved slightly away from our trusted philosophies in the first half but we scored enough tries to win.

"We were not at our best, we were okay. Some individuals won't be saying they've had their best games of the season but we certainly did grind things out as a team.

"It's a really good sign that when some players are below their best, others take up the reins."
