Stuart Littler had a strong match as Salford stunned hosts Hull
Teenage star Richie Myler scored a dramatic late try as Salford sent 2008 runners-up Hull crashing out of the Challenge Cup at the KC Stadium.
The Super League strugglers looked to have blown a chance of a big upset as Hull fought back from 16-6 down to lead by two points with 10 minutes left.
But Malcolm Alker and Stuart Littler created a crucial opening for Myler.
While Hull complained about a forward pass, the try was awarded - and John Wilshere's fifth goal wrapped it up.
Hull looked to have a comfortable afternoon in store as they opened the scoring with less than four minutes on the clock through Kirk Yeaman.
But they failed to build on their early dominance and the outstanding Jeremy Smith took advantage of a Richard Horne slip to put in a well-weighted kick for Littler to score.
Twelve points from Wilshere left the Black and Whites trailing badly, but they briefly restored order, as Yeaman claimed his second and Tom Briscoe also raced in to score.
However there was a final sting in the tail for the home supporters as 18-year-old scrum-half Myler had the dramatic final word with two minutes remaining.
Hull coach Richard Agar:
"Form has deserted us. We were poor in every facet of the game.
"Defensively we missed tackles and were abject. We showed very little imagination or desire when we had the ball in our hand.
"It was pretty much across the board as well, from start to finish. Pathetic. It is just not good enough."
Salford boss Shaun McRae:
"I thought we were the better side, although we just showed a few signs of fatigue with 20 minutes to go.
"When they got their noses in front we thought it was going to take a bit of resolve but we were in the game.
"It is one of the only times this year I can sit in front of media and say we were in the game for long periods of time."
