Wellens is relishing competition from the likes of Smith and Sykes

Paul Wellens insists England must treat Papua New Guinea with respect when the two sides meet in the opening game of the Rugby League World Cup on Saturday.
The Kumuls are seen as the weakest of the four teams in Pool One, but Wellens is not taking anything for granted.
"We're not looking beyond PNG. They are a patriotic lot, just as we are, and they'll be looking to do well and see us as a potential scalp," he said.
"We have to be professional and go there and do a good job."
England also matches against hosts Australia (2 November) and New Zealand (9 November) as they look to claim a place in the semi-finals.
The top three sides qualify for the last four, with the other team coming from either Pool Two or Pool Three.
Wellens is confident about his team's prospects.
"I think we've got a great chance," he said. "It's going to take a lot of hard work but the squad is looking in great shape.
"I think we're in a lot better shape than we have been for a while. That's the pleasing thing. So there is no reason why we can't be successful."

Maybe I haven't lived up to the standards of the last two years when I won Man of Steel and went close to winning it again

Wellens looks certain to start as England's first-choice full-back, but the St Helens star faces competition from Lee Smith and Paul Sykes.
"They're both great players and fully deserve their place in the squad on their performances," said Wellens.
"It's beneficial for me to have players breathing down my neck and wanting my position. It will hopefully bring out the best in me. I'm enjoying working with those guys.
"My form has been OK but I have plenty to improve on.
"Maybe I haven't lived up to the standards of the last two years when I won Man of Steel and went close to winning it again, but I've been pretty happy with my form and hopefully I can improve further in the World Cup."
