Raiders confident for new season

The Telford Raiders players have promised a chase for silverware as they kick off the new rugby league campaign.

"We've made steady progress since we joined the league set-up in 2003, and we're hoping this could be our year," said prop Andy Farrell.

A restructure has seen Raiders move to the West Midlands Conference, and they begin the campaign at home to the 2007 champions, Bristol.

"Past meetings have been tight, but we have high expectations," Farrell added.

The Raiders go into their opening fixture with practically a fully fit squad to select from, and will be looking to make the most of their home advantage at the Oakengates Leisure Centre (10 May, 1430).

The following day, the club is hosting a junior festival which will bring together U11 and U12 sides from across the Midlands.
