Former Castleford player Danny Brough scored a try, set up another and kicked two goals as Wakefield secured their third win of the season.

Jamie Rooney and Aaron Murphy's touchdowns put the hosts 12-0 ahead, but Castleford fought back through Luke Dorn and Peter Lupton tries.

Wakefield extended their two-point lead before the break when Sam Obst crossed.

Dorn scored his second of the match after Brough's fine individual score and Ryan Atkins's try sealed the win.

  • Wakefield coach John Kear:
"It was hard work - you don't expect anything else in conditions like this.

"I thought Castleford caused us some problems tonight but I am really happy with the result.

"The idea was to make a good fist of the first half, but we showed them how to play it the wind - they completed 16 out of 18 sets in the second half."

  • Castleford coach Terry Matterson:
"You can't chase that - it was a dumb performance," he said, referring to the 16-10 deficit at half-time.

"There are no excuses, we have got 17 players out there that are good enough to do the job.

"In the second half, we played some good footy and I thought we were a touch unlucky there at 16-10."
