Work has started on the new City of Salford stadium where Salford City Reds will play.
The first site offices and cabins have been delivered for building teams working on the project to use during the next two years.
Chairman John Wilkinson told the club's official website: "Players, fans and local residents have waited a long time for work to begin.
"With such a great start, it couldn't be a more exciting time."
Adam Thomas, managing director of Red City developments, added: "As promised, residents, fans and officials were the first to be informed about the developments on site.
"Monday evening saw the first meeting with Barton Residents Association which will provide an important forum throughout the construction process for discussion and review of the build.
"We have a detailed communication and involvement strategy that will roll out over the next two years to ensure the local community stay abreast of the development at all times."
