Jamie Benn was the Featherstone Rovers hero with a late drop-goal that bounced through off the posts to end the challenge of visitors Celtic Crusaders.
Rovers had an early lead through a Benn penalty, but Crusaders replied with a Paul Morgan try and Jace Van Dijk kick.
But Rovers led 8-6 at half-time after Carl Hughes scored from a dubiously awarded scrum, Benn converting.
Another Benn kick was answered by a Michael Ryan try for Crusaders, only for Benn's boot to inch Rovers clear.
Even then Crusaders had one last good chance to snatch the win, but Van Dijk was just short with a 40-metre penalty as the hooter went.
Crusaders operations manager Gerald McCarthy said: "That was the best effort we've made all season. It was a thrilling game.
"We've got two home games left and one away and we can still finish in third in National League 2 as we've still to play Featherstone at home.
"It was a very disappointing day for us, but you can't fault the effort from both sides."
