deficit and scored two tries in the last eight minutes to
hold out Wests Tigers 38-30 at Leichhardt Oval.
Canberra scored nine tries to pulverise Parramatta 50-14 on Saturday to take top spot in Australia's National Rugby League by two points.
The Raiders enjoyed a spectacular second half scoring spree after leading 16-4 at half-time.
It was Parramatta's worst defeat of the season and the 2001 grand finalists have now won just six out of their last 27 matches.

The New Zealand Warriors bounced back from a rough patch to record a confidence-boosting 23-6 win against Cronulla at Auckland's Ericsson Stadium.
The 17-point victory was the Warriors' second win in their past six games and pushed them to fifth on the NRL ladder.
Penrith registered their eighth successive victory with a 28-24 extra time victory over the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville thanks mainly to a Luke Lewis try with one minute left on the clock.
That gave the Panthers a chance of winning a thrilling match and when the match went into extra time after standoff Preston Campbell had missed the conversion, second-rower Joe Galuvao secured the win with his second try of the match nine minutes into extra time.
On Friday, the Canterbury Bulldogs returned to the National Rugby League top eight with a 28-18 victory over the depleted Sydney Roosters.
Brad Fittler's error led to the Bulldogs' winning try
|
The lead switched four times throughout the match, but a 65-metre intercept try for stand-off Braith Anasta 15 minutes from time earned the Bulldogs the win.
Former Test skipper Brad Fittler threw the stray pass, but it was an unfortunate error for the skipper, who had been outstanding.
The Roosters were without their seven State of Origin representatives, yet almost managed to pull off the win.
Fittler scored one try, was over the try-line on another occasion and set up the Roosters' only other try in a fabulous display.
But the Bulldogs prevailed, ending a two-match losing streak which culminated in only one player from their line-up being chosen for the Origin opener in Brisbane next Wednesday.
